The primary focus is on scalability. Buterin emphasizes Layer 2 solutions like rollups, vital for reducing transaction costs and boosting speed. This shift is crucial for decentralization, as it lowers the entry barrier for users who want to run nodes, reducing reliance on centralized intermediaries.
