Tools for Humanity CEO Reveals New Updates on Worldcoin Expansion

In a group interview held during Wednesday’s Korea Blockchain Week (KBW) 2024 event in Seoul, Tools for Humanity CEO Alex Blania said that the present goal of Worldcoin is the broad distribution of iris-scanning “Orbs” in order to grow the project and make it more useful.

Co-founded by Blania and Sam Altman, the CEO of OpenAI, Tools for Humanity is the organization behind Worldcoin. With the goal of shielding humans from AI’s potentially harmful effects, the project issues “World IDs.” To those who scan their irises using an Orb device as evidence of their humanity. In addition to the WLD cryptocurrency that signees get, Worldcoin has over 6.5 million confirmed World IDs in over 160 countries worldwide.

Moreover, according to Blania’s statement at KBW2024, the project is planning to disclose “exciting updates” on the next generation Orb gadget in the next few weeks.

In addition, the CEO said that the initiative is in talks with prominent figures in the South Korean game sector about possible partnerships. Additionally, Worldcoin is getting ready to launch its Layer-2 network, World Chain. To make the new mainnet more user-friendly, the company has announced partnerships with blockchain development companies Hyperlane and Moralis, among others.

Furthermore, Worldcoin has been under investigation by authorities in a number of countries, including South Korea, Columbia, and Spain. All of which saw the company’s acquisition of human iris data as a possible invasion of privacy.

Worldcoin was instructed by the Hong Kong authorities to stop operating in the local market in May. Updates that gave users control over their iris data scanning were implemented to Worldcoin in March of this year, amid the rising scrutiny.
